Training & Professional Journey
Dr Arunlal K P completed his medical training at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode, one of the most respected medical institutions in Kerala.
He pursued his postgraduate diploma in orthopaedics at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry, a premier institute in India recognised for its academic excellence and clinical training. During this period, he trained under distinguished mentors including Professor Dilip Kumar Patro and Professor Jagdish Menon. Exposure to complex deformity correction and Ilizarov techniques under Professor Patro played a defining role in shaping his clinical approach.
He later completed his Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Orthopaedics at Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode, under the guidance of Professor N J Mani, further strengthening his foundation in comprehensive orthopaedic care. He was working with Dr Tony Kavalakkatt, one of the pioneers in Pelvi-acetabular surgery in Kerala
Driven by a deeper interest in deformity correction and limb reconstruction, he pursued a fellowship in Reconstructive Orthopedics & Ilizarov Surgery at the Centre for Limb Lengthening & Reconstruction, Mumbai, under Dr Mangal Parihar.
He subsequently underwent fellowship training in Paediatric Orthopaedics under Professor Gopakumar and later completed a short-term fellowship in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, under Mr Lee Van Rensburg.
Advanced TRAINING
Extensive advanced training through AO Foundation programs in trauma, spine, arthroplasty, pelvic and acetabular surgery, and reconstructive orthopaedics, complemented by focused exposure in endoscopic spine surgery. View detailed training
Academic & Teaching Roles
Actively involved as faculty in deformity correction courses and AO training programs. Regularly invited as national and international faculty for workshops and academic discussions related to deformity correction and reconstructive orthopaedic surgery.
